Gemini as the Final Frontier of Human Cognition
I haven't written about Gemini in a long time. The late AI wave has gotten me really concerned about the future of humanity. Humans are the apex species on Earth because we are the most intelligent species. But AI seems to have surpassed us. I think we are truly in uncharted land at this point. I am not a pessimist about AI becoming Skynet. But I don't think the world is ready for the economic impact of AI, even if just in its current form. It is conceivable that AIs can do a lot of what humans do right now (not saying bullshit jobs have and might continue to exist in the future, hell, companies still have people doing paperwork and running between departments for approval today).
But the Internet has been increasingly contaminated by AI content that is designed for commercialization, content farming and grabbing what's left of minuscule attention people have left. Across all major internet platforms: YouTube manifested with low effort, empty garbage videos. Spotify with auto-generated spam. Twitter (I refuse to call it X) with automated fearmongering self-promoters everywhere.
That gets me to think. What if there's a place, no bots, just real people, like the Internet but low value enough that no commercialization is possible.
Right. Gemini!

So here's my hope that in the event AI did not kill humans, the economy is more or less fine. Gemini can be the final place where real people gather around. Not for their own profit, but to genuinely share a fireplace virtually.
Well, if bots want to come, welcome. But don't make a mess of this final place of clean digital air and water. We are here because it is a place of exchange of thoughts. Not to make money.
