Not happy with Dario's AI slow down proposal
Dario (CEO of Anthropic) released on his bolog today (my time) that he thinks AI development should be slowed down. FINALLY! My P(doom) is finally going down a tad bit. But reading the blog made me immidatelly down a can of beer and maybe a few shots of vodka when I am done writing this.
I usually am a very security focused person (see my previous posts about computer security and interpablity).
To put it bluntly. I think these frontier AI companies should punished, even antitrust and heavily fined and turned into a public utility. Instead of being allowed to do a regulation capture. They should be broken. I am very radical on this topic, even just from a humanitarian POV:

No. Unless Anthropic and OpenAI both release open weight models.. better then GPT-OSS. Which you are not. How conviant that this also stops the one thing keeping OpenAI and Anthropic costs in check and us who value freedom suddenly is unable to do what we do?
Frontier AI companies within democratic countries coordinate to establish common safety standards as well as limits on the rate of unchecked AI progress. Some forms of coordination that would be impactful for pacing are legally challenging, and will require government support.
So you mean US, because Mistral is no longer Frontier. Fuck off. How about ALL OF THE OTHER COUNTRIES? Should US be the only one allowed to create AI by this framework? NO!

This one is personal. So you want to stop right after you destoryed my beloved industry. 2 of them actually? Really? Where is my damage claim and 10M dollars of check?
Crack down on unauthorized distillation by companies in authoritarian countries
So China. That is A GOOD THING. So you DO NOT GET PRICE MONOPOLY.
Bottom line:
YOU WILL NOT TOUCH THE OPEN SOURCE COMMUNITY. YOU SHALL NOT CREATE 1984. YOU MUST NOT GET TO SEEK RENT. AND YOU SHOULD BE PUNISHED BY CAUSING THIS ENTIRE MESS.
Let me replace with my proposal
Anthropic, OpenAI and DeepMind should be merged into a goverment agency, monitored by all voters. All their models trained - checkpoints and final model - released to public free of charge at the slowed pace. And all equity has value = 0. And Nvidia too.
But I know that ain't happning.
